This year the practice have been heavily involved in community eye care and specifically with Jonga Trust activities. Jonga Trust is an NPO/NGO that provides eye care to disadvantaged communities.

One of the key projects that Basil and Johann have been involved in was providing eye care to school going children. Over the last few months they have been running up and down the Cape peninsula screening and testing eyes in areas like Vrygrond, Mitchells Plein, Fisantekraal and Joostenberg vlakte.

One of these projects was Alpha school. With the assistance of Rotary Durbanville we were able to help 31 children receive their first pair of glasses.

All the frames are custom selected on the day of the eye test and are properly dispenses on the day of collection. This ensures that the student won’t only see properly but will also be comfortable with their new pair of spectacles.
