Hi, I’m Sherrie — an optometrist with a heartfelt passion for helping people see life more clearly. I’ve always believed that good vision can change lives, and it’s a privilege to be part of that journey for so many individuals and families.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Optometry from the University of Johannesburg and went on to complete a postgraduate diploma in Sports Vision. With over 19 years of experience in the field and more than 10 years specializing in advanced contact lens fittings, I’ve worked extensively with patients who have unique visual needs — from scleral and rigid gas permeable lenses to orthokeratology, myopia control, pediatric optometry, and binocular vision care.

As a co-owner and practicing optometrist at Charl Laas Optometrists, I’m proud to be part of a practice that values genuine care and connection. We’re a close-knit team that treats every patient like family, and I’m constantly inspired by the difference we make together. Staying up to date with the latest clinical innovations is a priority for me, so I can continue offering the best possible care.

Outside of work, life is full and lively! I’m a mom to two busy, fun-loving kids and wife to my amazing husband. Our home is always buzzing — especially with our spirited Staffordshire Bull Terrier keeping us all entertained. I also have a deep love for travel and adventure; exploring new places, both near and far, feeds my curiosity and reminds me of the joy in seeing the world from new perspectives.
