Charl Laäs Optometrists provide a comprehensive range of eye care services in a friendly and professional environment. Some of our services include:
Regular eye examinations
Regular eye examinations are essential to achieve clear and comfortable vision and good ocular health. Vision screenings that are performed by a school nurse, your employer or the traffic department are not the same as a comprehensive eye exam. Optometrists check for eye and other diseases that have no early symptoms, but should nevertheless be treated as early as possible to avoid vision loss.
Contact Lenses
Charl Laäs Optometrists has a specific interest in contact lens wear. From basic soft contact lenses fitting to more advanced soft and rigid contact lens fits such as Orthokeratology, keratoconus and the rehabilitation of the traumatised and irregular cornea. Technology is constantly expanding the range of contact lenses and patient that may previously not able to wear contact lenses are now being catered for. New designs and materials such as bifocal/progressive, extended wear and silicone soft lenses are now providing more comfortable vision with more oxygen transmission to the eye than older generation lenses. This allow many people more hours of hassle free wear and less red eye problems associated with contact lens wear.
Community care and affordability
Please note that we have subsidised options for disadvantaged people, whereby we offer packages of complete spectacle frames, prescripion lenses and a comprehensive eye examination at a very affordable tariff.
Exclusivity
We carry designer eyewear to suit every taste and with our new lens glazing machinery we are easily able to custom design rimless and semi-rimless lens shapes to your specifications.
Corneal topography
The Corneal topography is done with a corneal topograper which is a highly specialised device that provides extremely precise details about the front surface of the eye called the cornea. It uses photographic images of the way light is projected into your eye and the computer creates and prints out the resulting surface "map" of your eye, with different contours represented by varying colours. This is particularly useful to analyse the cornea for irregularities due to astigmatism, corneal disease and contact lens wear.
Drivers Licence Certificates
We offer the FREE service of visual screening for drivers licences. If you meet the necessary visual requirement for your code of drivers licence we will issue you with a certificate that can be used at the traffic department to supplement there testing procedure and avoid the long queue.
On-site optical laboratory
Repairs, maintenance and adjustments are crucial to maintain the comfort and good vision of your spectacles and with our on-site laboratory we offer the convenience of immediate assistance and professional service. Lens glazing is performed by our on-site optical dispensers, allowing us to fit the spectacle lenses in our laboratory and therefore ensuring quality craftsmanship and reduced waiting periods
